The Maine Alliance for Road Associations
Membership Application
Please support the MARA website by becoming a member. The cost is low, but keeping the site going is worth every penny.
Who can become a Member? Anyone with an interest in private roads, their maintenance, shared costs of maintenance through an association of owners, and the environmental impact of such roads and maintenance may find useful information on our website. Only individuals and not Road Associations per se can join MARA. (see below)
Statutory or other forms of road associations cannot themselves become members. Our Alliance is composed of individual persons, many of whom are members of private road associations, who complete their applications and pay the annual fee to become members. Once members, each may share the benefits of membership with their association.
Statutory road associations need not and cannot register their statutory status with us. There is no regulatory body for statutory road associations. A road association must establish statutory status by keeping records that indicate the association is operating in compliance with fair and democratic practices set forth in the Private Ways Statutes, 23 M. R. S. ยงยง 3101-3104.
Member Benefits:
- MARA Member Details are encrypted for security using "Let's Encrypt" technology.
- "Mud Season," our annual newsletter (usually in March), mailed direct to your inbox and forwardable to your members' inboxes if you choose.
- Full access to the MARA discussion forum (only members may post and reply).
- Enhanced MARA outreach and advocacy during the Maine legislative season.
- Email alerts on topics of immediate interest to road associations -- infrequent, but important.
- Once a member, if you wish to receive emails to all message board posts and replies, click HERE. If you wish to subscribe only to a given post, subscribe to the post itself.
New Membership, or Membership Renewal each April 1st, is payable by Wild Apricot/Affinipay or by check mailed to:
James Bunting, Treasurer
Maine Alliance for Road Associations

There will be a $45 overdraft charge for a check returned for insufficient funds. MARA is not a registered 501(c)3 but is a Domestic Non-Profit Corporation. Your participation will serve the private road associations of Maine. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Sandy
