Dust Control

I searched this site and it seems the most recent discussion about this topic is from 2020 so I thought I'd start a new one.

After much research on effectiveness and environmental & safety risks, our road association decided to have a local company apply a solution containing magnesium chloride to the roads. https://www.innovativecompany.com/magnesium-chloride-dust-control.php

We understood that magnesium chloride is slightly less caustic than sodium chloride. The product was applied two years in a row and we found it to be effective. Last year the company that applied the magnesium chloride to our roads informed us that they no longer provide the service. We could not find another company to apply the product and fortunately it was a wetter than normal summer last year.

Our road association is in Kennebunkport and we have about 1.5 miles of gravel roads. Does anyone have information to share about dust control products they have used and companies that apply them?

The one thing I know is that you should make sure whoever applies it rolls it in properly so it doesn't just wash off in the next rain.  Just broadcasting it on top as one would salt an icy road is not a good procedure.

ProGuard Magnesium is a liquid product, mixed with water, that is sprayed onto the road when rain is not forecast for a few days.

That sounds like a much better application method than the one I heard complaints about.
