Is there a standard practice or formula for the number of Board Members on a Road Association? We currently have 6 members, and it was suggested we increase the number to nine. 3 members that previously held seats for years resigned last year and now want to be back on the Board which prompted the recommended increase.
Currently we have 53 members - 6 board seats. We have always had great difficulty finding members to agree to be nominated to the Board, therefore an expansion doesn't seem practical. Votes were not valid due to a lack of quorum. A second meeting is scheduled for this purpose.
Do most associations have term limits? To preserve continuity of the Boards work, we have a rotating schedule so only two of the six seats are open each year - unless there are resignation voids to fill.
And finally, although our Bylaws require termination of any Board member not participating in 3 meetings, many contribute very LITTLE to no required work to be done. So, an increase of people doing nothing is not, in my opinion, necessary.
Opinions and feedback welcomed.
