We recently lost our company that did our snowplowing. We have received estimates from several contractors, all bids significantly higher then we paid in the past.

Looking for information for what others are paying for plowing in the mid-coast 1 mile gravel road.

We pay a private local individual $1,300 in 2025.  Our road is paved and 1/4 mile long with access to 9 properties.

Our well-maintained, 3 mile gravel road, which is very hilly and twisty, is located 25 miles east of Bangor.  Each plow (when there is >  4 inches of snow) costs $750.  A truck load of sand costs $300 (sorry, cannot exactly quantify how much sand that is but it’s a large plow truck).

Our association located in Western Maine has paid $8000 for an annual plowing contract the last several years.  Our roads are gravel, about 1.25 mile in length.  Last year they plowed 21 times and sanded approximately 27 times.

The contractor also does another short road not in our association management and driveways of about 10 residents. These are billed separately and may help with our cost.
