Goodbye and Hello

    Dear MARA members,

    It's time for me to say goodbye to all the MARA members I've been so fortunate to meet and to introduce the new MARA management team that will be carrying on.

    In 2007, when I began helping road associations form under the new laws affecting them, I was twelve years younger.  Time can do a lot, and illness hasn't spared me! 

    I am most grateful to four of our members who stepped forward when I asked for help -- Andrew (Sandy) Allen, Peter Dunn, Roberta Manter, and Margaret Cardoza. Together, with help from Mary Denison, we have formed a non-profit corporation, the Maine Alliance for Road Associations, with a Board of Directors consisting of Sandy as President, Peter as Vice-President, and myself as Secretary-Treasurer. I will turn this position over to Peter Dunn soon. 

    I'm proud of the work I have done, and I'm deeply gratified that Sandy, Peter, Roberta and Margaret will be carrying MARA into the future.

    Thank you Betsy for all you have done for the organization. It has been a real value to our small road association.  Hope you have a much deserved "retirement" .

    Also, my thanks to those of you who have stepped up to start the next chapter of the organization.

    You and this organization have been such a huge help to so many - myself included!  You will always be a part of MARA, even as you hand off the burden to those who are following your lead.  Enjoy your rest - but don't be a stranger!

    Dear Betsy,

    I would like to echo Roberta's comments. Many people (including myself) are grateful to you for your immense contributions to the understanding and successful implementation of the Maine private ways statute in road associations throughout our state and will be (are) sad to hear you are saying goodbye.

    I know I speak for the MARA Management team, Betsy, in wishing you continued health, joy and happiness. YES, stay in touch and please continue to provide us with your counsel as Newsletter Editor and MARA webmaster emeritus!

    Betsy,

    Thank you for founding MARA. It provides a valuable resource to the many road associations throughout Maine. I have attended each summer workshop and learned a great deal.

    And thank you to the members who have offered to continue your work. It is much appreciated.
