Do you have people dumping trash on your property? Do you have ATV drivers crossing your land and dumping trash? The Maine's Fish and Game Dept., are willing to come and help clean up the trash.  For more information go to:

    https://www.maine.gov/ifw/programs-resources/outdoor-partners-program/become-partner.html

If you'd like them to put your name and address on a list for clean up (do it as soon as possible as this event will occur on Sept 15 this year) then send them an email at outdoorpartners@maine.gov

In the past, one of our land owners contacted them and they came and cleaned up 2-3 truckloads of trash!

I would like to thank Roberta for announcing it on her facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/p/Maine-ROADWays-100068227124639/

This is the statement from Maine Dept of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife:

Dear landowners, we hear you. Every tire is one tire too many.

Each time trash of any kind is left behind, landowners are forced to ask themselves if keeping their private land open to public access is worth it. Illegal dumping by one puts future access at risk for all.

Our annual Landowner Appreciation Cleanup Day is an opportunity for communities to come together to lend landowners a helping hand, proving that the majority of Maine’s land users are good stewards of the Maine outdoors.

Showing a little respect goes a long way. Last year, volunteers removed 27.55 tons of trash, and 643 tires private land in Maine. How many acres of land and miles of trails do you think they saved in one day? Let’s do it again.

    Landowner Appreciation Day

This annual event provides land users a tangible and fun way to show landowners their appreciation, with prizes awarded to volunteers who pick up the most truckloads of litter.

Each year, on 100+ sites, volunteers have picked up more than 1,000,000 lbs. of trash including 1,000-2,000 tires.

Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW) is hosting a Landowner Appreciation and Clean Up Day on Sunday, September 15, 2024. All loads of trash will be measured by pick-up truckload at one of the designated drop off spots by MDIFW or Maine Forest Service personnel. Tires will be held separately in piles at designated sites and picked up by BDS Waste Disposal. Prizes will be awarded to volunteers who pick up the most truckloads of litter!

Clubs, groups, or organizations can register their team to volunteer to participate by completing this online form.

Maine landowners who own property where illegal dumping has occurred can contact MDIFW staff at outdoorpartners@maine.gov to have their site considered for the 2024 cleanup day event.

Please email outdoorpartners@maine.gov with questions or for more information!
